NCA & NDA Daytona Beach International Championship

National Cheerleading Championships

Almost 7,000 student athletes and coaches from 35 states, Japan, Canada and Costa Rica will test their technical skills, showmanship and game day abilities against the best of the best! Spectators will support the cheer teams Thursday in Preliminary competition held in the Ocean Center and Band Shell, and the dance teams in the Peabody Auditorium. Team Finals on Friday are held in the Ocean Center and the world famous Band Shell.

Eleven (11) Dance Divisions and 17 Cheer Divisions separate teams by designation of All-Girl or Coed, skill level, style of dance and university enrollment (Division 1, 1A, II, III), Junior College and NAIA.

The first NCA College National Championship was held at SMU in Dallas, Texas in 1981. The event was moved to the sunny shores of Daytona Beach in 1996, where it has now reigned for 18 years against the beautiful backdrop of the Band Shell stage and coastline sunsets.

Our founder, Lawrence R. Herkimer, held the first cheer camp in Huntsville, Texas in 1948. From that simple beginning, a global cheer and dance industry was born. Known worldwide as “Herkie”, he patented the Pom Pon, created the Spirit Stick, spirit ribbons, and founded Cheerleader Supply Company in the early 1950’s to meet the need for ready-made uniforms, shoes, “poms”, megaphones and more for the quickly growing industry.

NCA & NDA have trained millions of cheerleaders and dancers across the U.S. and numerous foreign countries. We host summer cheer and dance camps from coast to coast with curriculum that includes our #1 focus on safety training, technical skills, teamwork and development of all-around athletes to be leaders of tomorrow.

We are proud to give back through our sponsorship of Make-A-Wish ®, and as part of Varsity Spirit Corporation’s sponsorship of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

NCA & NDA administer five National Championships including the NCA & NDA All-Star National Championship, NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship, NCA High School Open National Championship, NDA National Dance Championship and NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship.
